Kirstin has been volunteering with the Food Bank since 2018, now alongside her son, Peyton. “It feels great to give back and connect with our neighbors,” she shares. Peyton adds, “I like restocking, greeting, and getting carts from people.” Together, they’ve volunteered over 230 hours, helping with everything from sorting produce to packaging frozen foods. “There’s always a space for you to help,” says Kirstin. “We need more good in the world, and volunteering is that.” *We welcome youth ages 8-17 to volunteer. It’s Bring Your Child to Work Day: Food Bank Edition! Food Bankers brought their kids along to see the impact of the work we do, and they jumped right in! ?? From exploring the challenges of food insecurity in our Community Food Experience to learning knife safety and preparing a salad bar, these future hunger fighters ended the day by volunteering for a shift. We’re proud to share our mission with the next generation!

What an incredible summer with the students of our Youth Leadership and Service Summit! After an engaging session with our President and CEO, Kyle Waide, they spent the week putting their passion into action by volunteering at our Hunger Action Center, Community Food Center – Stone Mountain, Urban Recipe, and Tapestry Garden - Food Well Alliance.
