The world is changing every day. Global issues like war, global pandemics, natural disasters, etc, are challenges because our economy depends on what happens across the world. We live in an interconnected world today. Moreover, as a country, we rely on bilateral relationships for the smooth functioning of our economy. Interest in freelancing has been on the rise. There is encouragement from the government for freelancing as well. Although what people don’t understand is that freelancing prevents your growth as it only provides you the same type of work and works that are not interrelated where you do get limited opportunity to learn anything new.

When someone is working as a freelancer, they don’t get the experience of working in the industry.
As a result, it gets hard for them to return to the industry after a few years. Some people work as remote employees which is okay. But individual freelancing is not effective in the long term. Many people want to return to the industry after a few years of freelancing and they could not find meaningful positions. In many instances, companies can't afford these people due to their high existing earnings compare to their skill set. These are some of the challenges for us.

3 年I echo with you. In the wave of global GIG economy, apx. 7,00,000 Bangladeshi students and grown pro's are engaged in freelancing jobs. Freelancing is good for learning, flexible working hours and short-term earning. But there is no guarantee of stable job or regular income and career path. To establish a long-term stable career in IT field, freelancing is definately not the right pathway. But despite such uncertainty, our IT pro’s are serving foreign countries to grow their digital services while at home our IT companies are struggling to use their talents. This is certainly not a good indication of digital Bangladesh growth as welll as estalishing a knowladge-base society. Thanks for bringing this vital issue about IT skill/talent in industry.
